Introduction

About Olajumoke Akinwunmi

Olajumoke Akinwunmi has over 25 years of experience in the real estate sector as an architect, investment adviser, and development manager. She is co-founder of Alitheia Capital, a Nigeria-based investment advisory and management firm. In the past decade, the firm has amongst others, made investments that promote financial inclusion through a financial services fund, encouraged environmental sustainability through a clean energy fund and is currently managing a gender-focused SME fund, providing growth capital to women owned/led businesses.

Jumoke was in public service for six-years up to 2019, and at different times during this period was Managing Director of the Family Homes Funds, a N500billion Federal Government-backed housing program whose mandate is to stimulate the economy through housing delivery, Ogun State Director General of the Bureau of Lands and Survey, Special Adviser Housing Development and General Manager of Ogun State Housing Corporation. She brought her process-driven approach to bear in public service and led some of the critical interventions that resulted in the State rising from the last position, to one of the top four reforming States on the World Bank Ease of Doing Business survey, in two years.

Sustainability plays a big role in the work she does – assisting a State Government to qualify for funding for a large-scale reforestation program, co-chairing the IE Sector on the World Bank P4R Programme for a State Government, investing in a pilot program for passive affordable housing and establishing a building components factory delivering several hundred affordable classrooms in more than 100 public schools.

Previously, she practiced architecture in the firms of ACCL and James Cubitt Architects and was pioneer property development manager at the Shell Pension Fund, before joining Nigeria’s largest indigenous energy company, where she set up its real estate subsidiary, providing corporate real estate services, an organisation she headed until 2007.

She represents the interests of sponsors as Project Development Manager on large-scale green and brownfield commercial projects.

Alitheia is committed to gender equity and addressing the systemic issues that keep women at a disadvantage in the sectors that the company is involved in. She has designed and led several ‘home-grown’ interventions in the affordable housing ecosystem and continues to work with others to address specific pain points in the delivery and offtake value chains.

She is Non-Executive Director at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Chairman of Purple Nigeria, Chairman of the Advisory Board for Real Estate Unite, Co-Founder Alitheia Dev. Co. and founder of the non-profit, BuildHerNG.
